Hi James,

I believe it is wonderful that you stand up for peoples/medical professionals rights. I have three daughters that had to go into enormous debts, especially my eldest; Alisha Castagnera Fletcher. My twin daughter Stephanie went all the way through R.N. , program and had with-drawl after her last test, due to the fact she had a 12 hour rotation and was so tired she fell asleep studying for her final. My other twin, Gina is a single mom and has had 11 yrs. in the dental field, she wants to continue her education but can’t afford to go into any more debt. And unfortunately their father died in 1986, I did as much as I coud afford to. It’s a sad state of affairs. I believe that if interns were paid it would be a different story, our government picks up the tabs for education, health etc. for all the illegal immigrants….take care of our citizens first who work and pay taxes into the system…and most have to work or take out student loans in order to fulfill there dreams…this is America…help those that help themselves.

Sincerely,

Margaret J Castagnera-Wolfe

I can’t believe someone would go into that much debt and fail to complete a program!! Sounds like poor planning to me.
On another note, perhaps the single mother should have put her education first before she planned on having a family, or at least I hope it was planned. Then again if she is a single mother, she is already receiving tax payer benefits. There are plenty to student loan programs out there which allow the student to repay them once they complete their education and have a job.
As a mother of 4, I currently hold down 3 jobs to help my children pay for their education and have a better life then I did. I believe that if people had the right work ethic they would not be in such a dire situation.
